Duties:-

1.

To draw up (a) Government Contracts for the

supplies and provisions of different Departments of

Government, (b) Bonds and Government Contracts general-

-ly and Regulations authorised by Ordinance.

2.

To act in the recovery of Crown Rent,

Government Rates and Taxes.

3.

To conduct prosecutions before a pagistrate

in important cases.

4.

To appear for the Government on the applica-

-tion for the surrender of a fugitive criminal under

the Chinese Extradition Ordinance, 1889, (Ordinance

No. 7 of 1889).

5.

To draft indictments, and instruct the

Attorney-General at the monthly Criminal Sessions, and

in Civil cases generally.

The Assistant Crown Soliciter is required to

perform such of the duties above detailed or others as may be

delegated to him by the Crown Solicitor and in particular the

work relating to Extradition of Chinese Criminals,,

Qualifications:-

The Assistant crown Solicitor must be a

fully qualified Wolicitor.

He will not be entitled to private practice

and will be required to enter into an Agreement of

probationary service for a period of three years and to undertake, in the event either of his resignation or dismissal during such period or if at the expiration

of the same he declines if so required to continue in

the service of the Government, that he will not practise as a Solicitor in Hongkong,for a period of three years from the expiration or sooner determina-

-tien of such agreement.
